Terms of Use

This is a translation provided for your convenience. The legally binding version is the German original.

1. Scope and provider

These terms of use apply to the use of the application “Sagren” (the “Service”). The provider is Kurt Scholz, Lerchenauer Str. 180, 80935 München (see Legal Notice).

2. Description of the service

The Service is a learning application for the German language. Among other things it offers writing and vocabulary exercises as well as AI-assisted corrections and feedback. The Service is currently provided free of charge. There is no entitlement to any particular availability or range of features.

3. Account

An account is required for certain features. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and confirm that your details are accurate. The Service is intended for adults.

4. Permitted use

You undertake not to misuse the Service. In particular, it is prohibited to:

  • post or share unlawful, insulting or infringing content,
  • disrupt or overload the technical infrastructure or circumvent security measures,
  • use the Service in an automated manner that impairs normal operation.

5. User-created and shared content

You are responsible for content you enter, upload or make publicly accessible via a share link. A share link you create can be accessed by anyone who has it. You grant the provider the simple right, necessary for operation, to store this content and — in the case of shared content — to display it. You can delete your content at any time.

6. AI-assisted features

Corrections, feedback and generated exercises are produced with the help of artificial intelligence (see Privacy Policy). They may contain errors and do not constitute binding linguistic or other advice.

7. Reporting illegal content (DSA)

You can report allegedly illegal content accessible via the Service at any time. The contact and reporting point within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act) — also for authorities — is:

Email:

Communication is possible in German or English. Reported content is reviewed; illegal content is removed or blocked.

8. Liability

The provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. In the case of slight negligence the provider is liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation (cardinal obligation) and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract. Otherwise liability is excluded. No warranty is given for the substantive accuracy of AI-generated output. Mandatory liability under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected.

9. Term and termination

You can delete your account at any time without giving reasons (in the application under “Account”). The provider may suspend or delete accounts in the event of serious or repeated breaches of these terms.

The paid subscription is concluded for an indefinite period. It has no minimum term and renews automatically for the billing period chosen unless it is cancelled. You can cancel at any time with effect from the end of the current billing period — without signing in, via the “Cancel contracts here” button in the footer, in the customer portal under “Account”, or informally to the address given in the Legal Notice. Periods already paid for remain usable; no pro-rata refund is made.

10. Changes

The provider may amend these terms of use with effect for the future insofar as this is necessary for objective reasons and does not unreasonably disadvantage you. Material changes will be communicated in an appropriate manner.

11. Applicable law

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country of your habitual residence remain unaffected.

12. Prices and payment

The applicable price is shown before the contract is concluded; it is the total price and no further costs arise. The provider is a small business within the meaning of § 19 UStG; no VAT is shown. Payment is processed via Stripe. The amount falls due at the start of each billing period. Price changes apply only to future billing periods and are notified in good time beforehand.

13. Right of withdrawal

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal. The details and the model withdrawal form can be found in the withdrawal policy, where a withdrawal can also be declared electronically.

14. Updates

For the duration of the subscription the provider supplies those updates that are necessary to keep the service in conformity with the contract, including security updates (§ 327f BGB). Updates that noticeably change how the service is used will be communicated in an appropriate manner. The service is provided as a web application, so updates are deployed centrally and require no action on your part.
